What We Do

The mission of the Faculty of Humanities is to advance knowledge and educate students in history, geography, letters, foreign languages and physical education and sports. The faculty aims at developing an education based on the latest achievements of modern science, answering to the requirements of the European and Romanian educational system, whose structure provides BA (3 years), MA (2 years) and Ph.D. (3 years) studies. The system implemented in the process of Bologna provides graduates of our faculty with greater mobility, as a result of the system of transferable credits, the diplomas conferred by the faculty being recognized Europe-wide, which ensures a quick adaptation to labor market needs not only in the country, but also in the EU.

A wide range of choices in the educational process at every level, the guidance provided by our teaching staff with excellent expertise, the high level of scientific activities, a growing number of exchange agreements with European universities, all these reflect the quality of our services. This reality honor us and compels us, at the same time, to ensure our faculty a definite place among institutions with a similar profile in Romania, in Europe and abroad.

About Us

The Faculty of Humanities was funded in 1995, having at that time a number of three BA domains: History-Archeology, Geographyand History-Geography.

The existence of this faculty as an independent structure in the Valahia University of Targoviste, a fully accredited state university, served from the beginning as a natural enlargement of the area of specialization, thus continuing the tradition of cultural and humanistic education of the city as embodied in its rich medieval history.

Our Faculty is one of the most representative of the Valahia University of Targoviste. A proof in this regard is represented by the number of students enrolled in its study programs (BA, MA and Ph.D.) and the performances of our staff and students. The faculty unites in a single organizational structure four areas of study: history, geography, language and literature, physical education and sports. The common objectives of our educational activities aim at training graduates as valuable intellectuals and harmonious personalities, creative and competitive in the professions for which they are educated.
